The Northwest Creek Catchment

Northwest Creek flows into Sylvan Lake after starting as a spring in the upland. Previous water quality sampling and analyses have shown that the nutrient content is high at all times of the year.

A watershed inspection team toured the catchment area on October 2 2013 to determine the land uses, the condition of the riparian zones, and if there are opportunities to improve nutrient containment on the land.

The evidence of high nutrient concentrations (measured as Total Nitrogen and Total Phosphorus) is clear when up the creek, even with a paddle:
